BIOGRAPHY
Shayla Symes is an exceptionally talented and passionate dancer hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia. From a tender age of 4, Shayla embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of dance and acrobatics, training in a variety of styles including contemporary, lyrical, jazz, ballet, and acro dance. Her dedication and commitment have been evident throughout her career, earning her numerous overall titles, awards, and scholarships both as a soloist and as part of group performances.
Shayla's achievements in the dance world are nothing short of impressive. Shayla achieved gold in three different categories as the Team Captain of Team Canada's Acro Dance team at the World Acrobatic Championships in Monterrey, Mexico. She was awarded the top acro soloist for an incredible five consecutive years at the prestigious Chilliwack Festival of Dance. She also showcased her outstanding abilities at the 5678 Showtime & Dance World Cup, where she took numerous top acro awards.
Notably, her exceptional talent caught the attention of the casting director of America's Got Talent, who extended an invitation for her to audition for Season 18 of the show after witnessing her mesmerizing performance at the international circus competition VIVA Fest in Las Vegas.
Apart from her dance achievements, Shayla dedicated 15 years to artistic gymnastics, training under the guidance of National team head coaches and alongside Canadian Olympians. Leveraging her extensive dance knowledge, she now coaches young athletes in ballet for gymnasts, helping them improve their artistry and technique beyond their gymnastics skills.
Her expertise has been recognized, and she has been appointed as the head choreographer of Club Aviva Gymnastics, where she creates captivating floor routines, beam routines, and choreographs for the Gymnaestrada team—a performance ensemble combining dance, acrobatics, gymnastics, and cheerleading—for provincial and national Gymnaestrada events.
Shayla's talent and versatility have extended beyond competitions and gymnastics. She has graced prominent events such as the Canada Summer Games, city events, festivals, and sports half-time shows, where she delivered captivating live performances. Her pursuit of excellence has also led her to train with esteemed artists from Cirque du Soleil at L'École Nationale de Cirque in Québec.
Additionally, she has honed her skills through classes with renowned choreographers in Dance, Acrobatics, and Circus at prestigious institutions like EDGE Performing Arts in Los Angeles, Circus Lab, Harbour Dance Centre, Vancouver Circus School, Aldeana’s Acrobat’s, and Coastal Edge Dance Centre.
Shayla's commitment to her craft is further exemplified by her completion of the CDTA Gold Star Acro Exam with distinction, as well as getting certified as an Acrobatic Arts acro teacher, a testament to her expertise and skill. This achievement has opened doors for her to serve as an assistant and teacher at workshops, conventions, and studios in and around Vancouver.

She dreams of captivating audiences as a professional dancer and acrobat, performing in prestigious shows for esteemed productions like Cirque du Soleil, on cruise ships, and in the realm of film and television.
